Want loyal patients? Get Engaged!

A sure-fire way to turn an "eh" patient into a loyal patient is to make them feel connected to you and your organization. Here's one way to do it that won't cost a lot of time or effort:

1. Ask their opinion
2. Respond to them

1 + 2 = Patient Engagement! Interact with them and make them feel valuable, needed and appreciated. The easiest way to do that is through social media and other Internet-based patient forums. Your Facebook profile and your profile on WhereToFindCare.com are great resources to accomplish this.

Keep in mind, Facebook is public so people may be less likely to share their true opinions. Depending on your goals, this may not be enough. You may also want to collect information that will help you improve your service, or simply to send the message that you are dedicated to improving.

Asking patients and visitors to rate you on your WhereToFindCare.com profile gives people the ability to share their experiences more objectively because the survey asks a series of strategic questions (You can browse review scores, comments or CareStars(R) to see how they work.) Plus, subscribing health care providers can respond to comments (responses are sent to registered surveyors by email and are posted online for public viewing).

  1. This site charges health care facilities to be part of the search results when people are looking for care. As someone who works in healthcare, I see no value in this whatsoever when there are much better websites out there where people can share their experiences regardless of whether a provider "pays" to be seen or not.

  2. Lori, thanks for your comment. WhereToFindCare.com actually is one of the few websites that does not charge providers to be part of the search results when people are looking for care. It has nearly 1,000,000 health care facilities and services listed and has not charged any of them to be included. Nominal fees are charged to cover things like photo storage, search engine optimization and staff time should a provider choose to add additional information to their profile. Unlike most of our competitors, we don’t require patients to pay for accessing valuable information or take their information and sell it to others for marketing purposes.

    The founders work in health care also, and adamantly agree with you that people should be able to share their experiences freely and regardless of whether a provider “pays.” That is what we believe to be the foundation of health care improvement, and the reason we started WhereToFindCare.com!
